Bright representatives of the world of track and field will come to Astana Indoor Meet for Amin Tuyakov Prizes, the first stage of the World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold of the 2025 season, which will take place on January 25 in the capital of Kazakhstan, said Olga Rypakova, President of the Athletics Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among the participants is the Jamaican runner, silver medalist of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Keeshan Thompson. In Astana, by the way, he will make his debut indoors. 23-year-old Thompson will compete in the 60-meter race. Thompson last competed at the Olympic Games in Paris, where he ran 100 meters in 9.79 seconds, winning silver in a tough fight against American Noah Lyles. Thompson's rivals in the 60-meter race in Astana will include, among others, Canadian Andre De Grasse, the Tokyo Olympic champion in the 200-meter race. De Grasse finished sixth at last year's tournament in Astana with a result of 6.66 seconds. Other bright representatives of the world of track and field will also compete in the Astana Indoor Meet for Amin Tuyakov Prizes.
The general rehearsal for international competitions will be the Kazakhstan Indoor Cup, which, as Olga Rypakova noted, starts this week at the Qazaqstan Athletics Complex, at 59 Turan Avenue.
Athletes from all regions of the country will take part in this tornament from January 17 to 19. All fans and lovers of sports competitions are welcome to come and support our athletes.
