On April 8, the second season of the Altay Kids Cup children's athletics competitions started in East Kazakhstan. Just as last year, it will be held in three stages, the first of which will last until April 13.
Dates of the second round: April 22 - 27. And on May 5, the final of the sporting event will take place.
The Altay Kids Cup is organized by the Altay Athletics Club with the support of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports and the Department of Education of the East Kazakhstan region. The club adapted these competitions in its region according to the model of the UBS Kids Cup (Switzerland).
The UBS Kids Cup is the most popular children's sporting event in Europe, bringing together over 220,000 children throughout Switzerland.
The concept of the UBS Kids Cup Generation (the generation of the UBS Kids Cup) has been established in Switzerland. The number of professional Swiss athletes, as well as participants from this country and prize-winners of major world competitions, has increased in recent years, including thanks to the competition launched more than 10 years ago.
The Altay Athletics Club also strives to raise the level and status of similar Altay Kids Cup competitions held with us.
The main goal of this “holiday of athletics” is the mass involvement of children in sports, the search for young talents and an increase in interest in the sport.
Last year, the Altay Kids Cup pilot started in the summer. After that, in the autumn of that year, the main competitions were launched, which covered the entire East Kazakhstan region. More than 20,000 children were involved in this sporting event. This year it is planned to attract the same number of participants.
After the first season of the Altay Kids Cup, the number of children in the field of athletics increased. Literally four months after the competitions, the young athlete Alexei Khlystov won the Republican championship in his age group. The athlete won the first place in the winter championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in throwing.
In total, in the Altay Kids Cup 2019, in the first stage, 670 secondary schools of the East Kazakhstan region will be involved.
As in the past year, selection rounds will be held in 19 administrative points of the Region. Pupils will be divided into 2 age categories:
1) Boys and girls born in the years 2007-2008.
2) Boys and girls born in 2005-2006
This year the competition program included such disciplines as: throwing the ball 150g., 60m sprint, long jump from the takeoff run from the extended repulsion zone (60 cm), 500m run, 1000m run. One species more than last year’s Altay Kids Cup.
The first stage will take place within the framework of the schools of the region. Further, in the second round more than 4,000 students will compete at the level of 19 cities and districts of East Kazakhstan region. Afterwards, the formed group of the strongest young athletes will take part in the final. Each team of districts of the region has already been given the names on the basis of the draw:

8. Ulansky District - Ulansky SKORPIONS
9. Ust-Kamenogorsk - Ust-Kamenogorsk BARS
10. Shemonaikha District - Shemonaiha WOLVERINES
11. Semey - Family ALLIGATORS
12. Borodulikha district - Borodulikha SHARKS
13. Beskaragai District - Beskaragai TORNETS
14. Kokpektinsky District - Kokpekty PIRANS
15. Zharma district - Zharma WOLVES
16. Kurchatov - Kurchatov BUYVOLS
17. Ayagozsky District - Ayagozsky GEPARDS
18. Urdzhar district - Urdzharskie JAGUARS
19. Tarbagatai district - Tarbagatai GRIZZLI
The final of the competition will be held in the Olga Rypakova athletics center in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. 304 students from 19 teams will compete for victory and prizes. The strongest participants will be awarded with diplomas, medals and valuable prizes.
