Norah Jeruto's temporary suspension lifted

In July 2022, the Athletics Integrity Unit commission (the organization responsible for the purity of athletics), based on the indicators of the athlete’s biological passport, brought charges of violating anti-doping rules against world champion Norah Jeruto.

In September 2022, in an explanatory document, Jeruto provided comprehensive information on the issues raised by the Commission. The file explaining the indicators of the biological passport was supported by its analysis by American professors of medicine at Harvard University in Boston and Vanderbilt University in Nashville.

However, in April 2023, the AIU decided to provisionally suspend Ms. Jeruto from any competition and schedule a hearing on the matter.

At the beginning of October 2023, at the Disciplinary Tribunal in London, hearings were held on World Athletics' claim against the athlete.

On October 27, 2023, the Disciplinary Tribunal exonerated Ms. Jeruto and decided:

- the charges are dismissed;

- not to apply any period of disqualification to the athlete and not to cancel her sports results;

- the temporary suspension is lifted with immediate effect.

The decision of the Disciplinary Tribunal may be appealed by World Athletics in accordance with the anti-doping rules.
