Renowned Kazakhstani high jumper Nadezhda Dubovitskaya has been included in the lineup for the 2025 Whatgravity Challenge high jump competition.
The Whatgravity Challenge 2025 will take place on May 9 in Doha, the capital of Qatar. This competition is part of the World Athletics Continental Tour organized by the international athletics federation, World Athletics. The Doha event is classified at the Silver level.
Whatgravity Challenge 2025 is an elite high jump-only event featuring 8 male and 8 female athletes. Among the invited participants is prominent Kazakhstani high jumper Nadezhda Dubovitskaya.
“I’ll be competing in Doha on May 9,” the athlete confirmed. “It was a spontaneous decision, but I’m happy to take part in the WhatGravity Challenge.”
Dubovitskaya has ranked among Asia’s top high jumpers for several years. She won her first Asian Games medal—a bronze—in 2018. In 2019, she claimed silver at the Asian Championships. In 2022, she earned bronze at the World Indoor Championships, and in 2023, she won gold at the Asian Indoor Championships. Last year, in 2024, she posted Asia’s second-best result with a jump of 1.92 meters.
The Whatgravity Challenge in Doha is held in honor of legendary Qatari high jumper Mutaz Barshim—three-time world champion and Olympic gold medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Games. It is also symbolic that Barshim was born in Doha.
Last year’s Whatgravity Challenge featured a truly stellar lineup, and this year’s event is expected to be no less impressive.
Dubovitskaya is currently at a training camp in Belek, Turkey. She had planned to remain there until May 17, but her participation in the Whatgravity Challenge 2025 has changed those plans.
An interview with Nadezhda Dubovitskaya will be published soon on Qazathletics.kz.
