Currently, the season of road racing is in progress and at one of the most prestigious half marathons of the Gold Label series, Altay Athletics club athlete Karolin Kipkirui won.
Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon 2019 was held today, April 6, where Karolin Kipkirui won the 21.097 km race. The athlete overcame the half marathon for 01:05:43.
This sporting event is held annually in spring Prague and has the status of IAAF Gold Label Road Races. (Note. A 3-tier system for evaluating road racing competitions. Developed by the International Athletics Federation IAAF in 2007. In 2008, all the major international road races were divided into statuses. There are 3 statuses for evaluating athletics: gold, silver and bronze. All of them are also divided into 3 types - marathons, half marathons and runs).
In the Prague Half Marathon, about 11,500 athletes take part in a distance of 21,097 km and satellite races. This year the half marathon has already been held 21 times.
The track for athletes was laid on the central part of the capital of the Czech Republic around the Vltava River (Vltava). During the race, athletes crossed 7 bridges across this river. A small part of the route passed along the pavement.
It was not the first time that Karolin Kipkirui participated in this half-marathon. In last year's Sportisimo Prague Half Marathon 2018, the Altay Athletics club athlete was second on the podium. Then Caroline showed a result of 1:06:09.
By the way, traditionally the track season starts in late April - early May.
