YOUTH GAMES, WOMEN’S 100 METRES – TWO “DUELS” BETWEEN PAVLODAR AND AKMOLA REGIONS

Two fierce duels for podium spots unfolded between athletes from the Pavlodar and Akmola regions in the women’s 100 metres during the athletics competition of the 6th Republican Youth Games.

Right from the start, a tight battle for first place ignited between Pavlodar’s Polina Karel and Tatyana No from the Akmola Region. The intensity was heightened by the fact that they were running side by side—Polina in lane five, Tatyana in lane four. In this high-speed showdown, the Pavlodar sprinter managed to maintain her slight lead all the way to the finish line—winning by the narrowest of margins. Meanwhile, Tatyana No’s push for the top spot secured her a well-deserved silver medal.

The fight for bronze was just as gripping, again featuring athletes from these two regions. This time, however, they couldn’t see or sense each other on the track—Kristina Minkovskaya of the Akmola Region ran in lane two, while her namesake, Kristina Yermola of Pavlodar, ran in lane seven. In this long-distance duel, Minkovskaya edged out her rival by 0.05 seconds—just five hundredths of a second.

Adverse weather conditions did have some effect on the performances, but they couldn’t stop the women’s 100 metres from becoming a vivid and emotional spectacle.
