Raw emotions burst forth at the finish line as athletes from the Akmola Region celebrated their podium finishes in the women’s 100 metres at the 6th Youth Games.
From 19 to 21 June, medals are being contested in athletics at the Republican Youth Games, held at the Olympic Training Centre Stadium, located just outside Almaty.
The medalists in the women’s 100 metres were determined on 19 June, with Akmola Region athletes claiming two spots on the podium. Tatyana No finished second, while Kristina Minkovskaya took third. Their emotional reaction spoke volumes about how much this success meant to them.
Tatyana No had just turned 21 a few days earlier—and what a silver birthday gift she gave herself! Kristina Minkovskaya is 19 years old. At the Youth Games, these young women managed to surpass competitors who had previously recorded stronger results, making their breakthrough to the podium all the more remarkable.
