These include numerous running events, both hurdle races and steeplechase, as well as relays. Shymkent athletes will also compete in all throwing events – discus, javelin, hammer, and shot put. There will be participants in race walking, men's decathlon, and women's heptathlon. In addition, the team includes triple jump, long jump, and high jump. The only event not represented is pole vault.

The team also has its own stars. For example, 20-year-old Akbilek Kuralbay. In 2023, she won a silver medal in the 3000-meter steeplechase at the Asian Junior Championships. In February 2025, at the 34th Kazakhstan Indoor Championships, Akbilek took second place in the flat 3000 meters, finishing behind current Asian champion Daisy Jepkemey. At the national indoor youth championships, she won both the 3000 meters and the 2000-meter steeplechase.

By the way, at the 34th Kazakhstan Indoor Championships, another 20-year-old Shymkent athlete, Ekaterina Avdeenko, won the combined events. At the Youth Games, she will compete in shot put and long jump.

There are also younger athletes in the Shymkent team who, despite their youth, will already compete at the Youth Games. For example, Polina Kuzubova, winner of the April Asian Youth Athletics Championship in Saudi Arabia in the heptathlon.

In short, Specialized Youth Sports School No. 2 is ready to defend the sporting honor of Shymkent.
