NATIONAL TRACK AND FIELD TEAM – WHO’S TRAINING IN ALMATY REGION?

A group of athletes from Kazakhstan’s national track and field team is currently at a training camp in the Almaty region.

The training camp runs from June 13 to 30. Sessions are being held at the Olympic Training Center stadium, located about 20 kilometers from Almaty. According to available information, the following athletes are participating:

Ivan Ivanov (East Kazakhstan region) – shot put
Almat Tulebayev (Almaty) – 100 and 200 meters
Vitaliy Zems (Karaganda region) – 100 and 200 meters
Vyacheslav Zems (Karaganda region) – 400 meters hurdles
Igor Kosolapov (Karaganda region) – high jump
Danil Polyanskiy (Karaganda region) – pole vault
Zelimkhan Nasyrov (Akmola region) – long jump, triple jump
Abdulaziz Abdukayumov (Shymkent) – 800 and 1500 meters
Mikhail Litvin (North Kazakhstan region) – 400 meters
Dmitriy Koblov (Shymkent) – 400 meters hurdles
Anel Shulakova (Karaganda region) – 100 meters hurdles
Adelina Zems (Karaganda region) – 400 meters hurdles
Elizaveta Matveyeva (East Kazakhstan region) – high jump
Nadezhda Dubovitskaya (East Kazakhstan region) – high jump
Kristina Kondrashova (Astana) – 400 meters
Nearly half of the athletes training in the Almaty region represent Karaganda — 6 out of 15. Notably, a group of athletes will pause training briefly to compete on June 21–22 at the Gennady Arzumanov Memorial in Tashkent. This includes Ivan Ivanov, Adelina Zems, Vitaliy Zems, Elizaveta Matveyeva, and Dmitriy Koblov. The Arzumanov Memorial is the second international meet held in Tashkent within the last month — the previous one, the UNG Meeting, took place on May 15.

However, athletes like Igor Kosolapov, Anel Shulakova, Danil Polyanskiy, and Abdulaziz Abdukayumov have yet to make an appearance at any summer meets — neither at the UNG Meeting nor the upcoming Memorial. This means they haven’t had any real starts during the summer season so far — only in winter competitions. For instance, at the indoor national championships in February, Polyanskiy failed to clear the opening height of 4.80 meters in the pole vault.

Eleven of the athletes in this training camp also competed at the XXVI Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, at the end of May.
