The women’s javelin throw at the Kazakhstan U-20 Athletics Championships, held at the Olympic Training Centre stadium in Almaty Region, ended with a victory for Ulbolsyn Yesirkep from Turkistan Region.
The U-20 championships, which began on July 3, are open to athletes born in 2006 or later.
At just 16 years old, Ulbolsyn Yesirkep is eligible for the U-18 category, where she already won the national title in May among athletes born in 2008–2009.
Now, she has successfully triumphed over older competitors. On July 3, her best throw came in the sixth and final attempt, reaching 41.75 metres.
Second place went to her teammate, Aigerim Manasbay, with a mark of 40.09 metres. Third was Irina Konishcheva from Almaty – a heptathlete – with 39.90 metres.
All three medalists achieved first-category qualifying standards. Notably, Yesirkep’s performance here surpasses her results from both the national U-18 championships in May and the Youth Games in June. Her next goal is likely to consistently reach the Candidate for Master of Sport benchmark – 45.00 metres.
