KAZAKHSTAN U-16 CHAMPIONSHIPS – VIKTOR ISABAYEV’S GOLDEN COLLECTION

KAZAKHSTAN U-16 CHAMPIONSHIPS – VIKTOR ISABAYEV’S GOLDEN COLLECTION

Sprinter Viktor Isabayev from Karaganda Region became a four-time gold medallist at the Kazakhstan U-16 Athletics Championships, held for athletes born in 2010–2011.

He earned his golden collection on June 26 and 27 — the first two days of the national championships at the Olympic Training Centre stadium in Almaty Region.

On June 26, Isabayev was the fastest in the 100 metres and later celebrated victory as part of Karaganda Region’s 4x100m relay team. The following day, June 27, he doubled his gold tally — winning the 200 metres and helping his team secure first place in the 4x400m relay.

Experts especially praised Isabayev’s 100m performance. At the U-16 Championships, he clocked 11.30 seconds. Ivan Nazaruk from Pavlodar Region finished second with 11.68, narrowly edging out Alexander Novokhatsky from Kostanay Region (11.70) by just two hundredths of a second.

In May, on the same track, Isabayev ran 11.64 at the U-18 Championships. Now, he’s improved by 0.34 seconds. With this first-class performance, the 15-year-old sprinter is edging closer to the Candidate for Master of Sport standard — 11.15.

In the 200 metres, Isabayev won in 23.63 seconds (improving slightly on his 23.67 from May). Joining him on the podium were Anatoliy Maksin from Akmola Region (23.98) and Samuil Yakupov from Zhetysu Region (24.27).

In the 4x100m relay, Isabayev helped lead Karaganda’s team to gold and a new Kazakhstan U-16 national record — 45.64 seconds. In the 4x400m relay, the Karaganda squad (with Isabayev on board) was less dominant but still clinched gold in 3:41.82.
