In the boys’ 4x100 metres relay, the team from Karaganda Region set a new national record for Kazakhstan in the under-16 category.
The standout performance came on June 26 — the opening day of the Kazakhstan Athletics Championships for boys and girls born in 2010–2011, held at the Olympic Training Centre stadium in Almaty Region.
The team of Viktor Isabayev, Konstantin Rybalko, Yelnur Besenbay, and Artyom Yefimov won first place with a time of 45.64 seconds — a new Kazakhstan U-16 national record.
The youngest member of the quartet is Yefimov, just 14 years old. His teammates are all 15. It’s also worth noting that Viktor Isabayev took home two more gold medals, winning the finals in both the 100 and 200 metres, while Yelnur Besenbay dominated the long jump.
The second-best result in the 4x100m relay went to athletes from Pavlodar Region — 47.01 seconds. Third place was claimed by the team from Shymkent with a time of 48.29.
