DAISY JEPKEMEI JOINED THE FBK GAMES LINEUP

One of the leaders of Kazakhstan's track and field team, Daisy Jepkemei, competed in Hengelo (Netherlands) at the prestigious international FBK Games.

The FBK Games are part of the Continental Tour and hold the highest, Gold level status awarded by World Athletics — the global association of international athletics federations.

At the FBK Games in Hengelo, Daisy Jepkemei, representing Kazakhstan, competed in the 3000 metres steeplechase. Although this is not her main distance, she holds a world ranking that virtually guarantees her a spot at the upcoming World Championships in Tokyo.

The 3000 metres steeplechase in Hengelo featured a strong field, with 16 athletes lining up at the start. The race was won by Uganda’s Peruth Chemutai — the 2020 Olympic champion in Tokyo and silver medalist at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Chemutai clocked 9:07.09, one of the world’s best times in 2025. Second place went to Wusan Asefa of Ethiopia, who finished in 9:20.83. Third was Kenya’s Karen Chebet with a time of 9:22.35. Both Asefa and Chebet set new personal bests in Hengelo.

In total, the FBK Games race saw two athletes break national records, one set a new national U20 record, five achieved personal bests, and two recorded season-best times, including Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai. The field featured many well-known and highly ranked athletes who competed by personal invitation.

Daisy Jepkemei finished in 8th place with a time of 9:25.87.

Prior to the FBK Games, Daisy represented Kazakhstan at the Asian Championships in late May in Gumi, South Korea, where she won two medals: bronze in the 3000 metres steeplechase and gold in the 10,000 metres, an event where she holds one of the top times in the world for 2025.
