BEFORE THE START – NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS FOR YOUTH SPORTS SCHOOLS (2008–2009 BORN). THROWS. GIRLS.

Qazathletics.kz presents the leading contenders in the girls’ throwing events and shot put ahead of the upcoming Kazakhstan Championships among youth sports schools (DYuSSh) for athletes born in 2008–2009.

From July 17 to 19, girls from the 2008–2009 age group will compete in throws and shot put at the DYuSSh Championships in Almaty Region, held once again at the Olympic Training Centre stadium.

Interestingly, the shot put event for girls has more entrants than the boys' – 12 vs. 9. Over half of the participants represent Karagandy Region (4), East Kazakhstan (3), and Almaty (2), with one athlete each from Pavlodar, North Kazakhstan, and Shymkent.

The top contender in shot put is Tatyana Ivanishko from Karagandy Region. Just under a month ago, she turned 17, and she already dominates not only among her peers but also against older competitors. In June, Ivanishko won gold at the VI Republican Youth Games, where athletes were up to 23 years old.

In hammer throw, the favorite is Tomiris Yermatova from Shymkent. Seven girls will compete in this discipline, representing Shymkent (2), Karagandy, North Kazakhstan, Turkestan, and East Kazakhstan (2). At 17, Tomiris recently won gold at both the Youth Games and the U20 Kazakhstan Championships in early July.

Interestingly, Yermatova is also considered the leading name in discus throw. This event will feature 9 participants from Almaty (2), Karagandy Region (3), Shymkent, North Kazakhstan, and Turkestan Region (2).

Javelin throw has the fewest entrants this time – just five, from Karagandy Region (2), East Kazakhstan, and Turkestan Region (2). The standout favorite here is Ulbolsyn Yesirkep from Turkestan Region. Currently 16, Ulbolsyn has already made her mark beyond her age group – she was unrivaled at the U20 Kazakhstan Championships in early July.
