Athletes from the Akmola region are finishing their training camp in Almaty as they prepare for the upcoming 6th Republican Youth Games. The team’s coach, Anatoly Krakhmalyev, spoke with qazathletics.kz.

– How important are these training camps before major competitions?

– The training camp is important for our team, first and foremost, because here we have the opportunity to fully prepare for the competitions on the tracks and in the field sectors, since the running tracks at our city stadium are currently being renovated. Therefore, we are unable to carry out a full training process at home.

– How is the workload distributed during this camp? Is there a focus on any particular elements?

– The training sessions are held in a light format, with the main focus on developing speed, practicing hurdles, distance running, and working on long jump elements.

– What is the mood in the team? How united are the athletes?

– The mood in the team is positive. The athletes treat each other with respect.

– How do you assess the athletes’ readiness for the upcoming competitions?

– The athletes are in good shape.

– Is there any particular progress that especially pleases the coaches?

– Zelimkhan Nasyrov showed a good result at the recent Asian Championship in Korea. He took 6th place in the triple jump, set a personal record, and achieved the standard for Master of Sport. Other athletes on our team are also showing growth.

– What inspires you in your students?

– Discipline, perseverance, and hard work.
