Kazakhstan veteran-athletes won 34 medals at XXI Asian Championships

In the period from 2 to 7 December, the XXI Asian Championships among veterans was held in Kuching (Malaysia), where Kazakhstan athletes won 34 medals in the individual competition.

The championship was attended by more than 2,000 athletes from 29 countries in different age groups: from 35 to 95 years old. In the 100+ category, one athlete performed.

The result of the performance of veterans of athletes from Kazakhstan: 18 gold, 9 silver and 5 bronze medals. Our athletes managed to update three records in Asia.

Karaganda athlete Lyubov Komkova recognized as the best athlete of this championship. She won four gold and one bronze medals and set two Asian records in the W55 group. Her result at a distance of 800 meters is 2: 40.17, which is 5 seconds better than the previous record. In the 2000-meter hurdle race, the athlete’s figure is 2 minutes better than the previous record set earlier in the championship.

The Kazakhstani athlete was not equal in the 1500 meter race either. Lyubov Komkova won the fourth medal of the low tide with the team in the 4x400 meter relay: Rima Voevodina, Elena Gichneva, Galina Zhukova. In the same composition, the athletes took third place in the relay 4x100 meters, thereby receiving a bronze medal.

Sergei Polikarpov again updated the Asian record table at the XXI Championship of the continent among veterans in the 5000 meter race, showing a result of 17: 10.20 in the age category M60 (previous record 18: 08.07). The athlete won another gold at a distance of 1,500 meters.

Also, Kazakhstan veterans showed the best results at a distance of 2000 meters with obstacles in different age groups.
